It was a pleasure to have award-winning filmaker James Kleinert visit this week. James took several days to document some of our veterans working in our Cowboy Up! program for his new film Horse Medicine. This feature length film starring Vigo Mortenson, Sheryl Crow, Willy Nelson, Kelly La Brock and Monty Roberts among others will also feature our Cowboy Up! Program in a segment speaking towards our unique "skill set restructuring" concept for helping and healing our warriors.
Everything needed for filming. James set up in our bunkhouse office and was working long hours.
Lunchtime with "cast" and "crew"! The only "posed shot" we took.

Here Michael lets Junior get used to James working low on the ground and the new fence configuration, something he is not used to seeing.
Alroy came down to help instruct other veterans and share his experience and thoughts on working with horses. His perspective from the Native American experience was powerful.
After working with the guys in the round pen Cowboy Up! Director, Nancy De Santis, works with newest Cowboy Up! participant John Shannon, US Army. ~ Glad to have ya aboard John!

Time to move our yearlings out!
Michael calmly eases this trio down the alley.
A few gate manuvers making an easy pathway into Alroy's trailer...
... safley loaded and ready to head back to the "REZ" until next season.

A visit from the NM History Museum to see our veteran cowboys,
Real and NOT Imagined!
We were honored to host Museum Director Dr. Francis Levine and Curator Seth McFarland and their staff at our place. They had never seen the kind of partnerships and the magic that our cowboys created. We appreciate their support and encouragement and look forward to working with them in the Spring.
The museum's show Cowboys Real and Imagined is definitely a show to see - on display through March 2014.

Laguna Pueblo working...
All hands on deck for Sedillo Cattle Assoc. We are honored to be partnered with Sedillo and the Laguna Pueblo. Their robust schedule and their work ethic provides an always anticipated opportunity for our guys and gals to dig in and get 'er done.
Circles assigned ... and Heading out.
Stewart Romero in some breathtaking scenery. We feel blessed to be able to ride and work on God's beauty with good friends.
First batch...
...second batch.
...third batch...
...forth batch in from all directions and now heading for the pens.
The youngins take Jack for some fresh grass after a great job of gathering.
Hot irons. Some real old school running irons also give our crew the opportunity to see a different way to brand.
Eric and Adam await...
...the first, and not the last! Note Matt in his headscarf.
Sedillo's record keepers Carmen and Jess!
Nice!
Wide angle view.
It gets pretty hot out there without a cowboy hat or in Matt's case his "drive on headgear". He said it kept him cool in the summer and warm in the winter when he was "downrange". Good to see him "improvising, adapting and overcoming!"
John draggin' and Adam ready to heel 'em.
Father John and son Stewart Romero of Sedillo Cattle Assoc. They are truly the future for this Pueblo's cattle production success. We are honored to call these guys our friends and brothers.
Gettin' 'er done!
Morning's done, time for a group shot.
Back to work! Directing the cattle through the chute for closer look and doctoring.
Branding the larger ones and the bulls.
You guys are havin' way too much fun! John and Rick make checking teeth, doctoring for pinkeye and sawing off errant horns look like fun.
Jess knows exactly who's is who's...or is it who is whoms??? Oh well.
Another great visit with our Laguna friends, thanks for the invite y'all!
